Parul Gulati is leading the market with Nish Hair

Indian model and entrepreneur Parul Gulati, who has also appeared on various web shows and TV series, is now the owner of a company with a 50-crore valuation named Nish Hair. Fairly after almost six years in the entertainment industry, she started her entrepreneurial journey along with her acting career. 

She has always mentioned in her interviews that she is passionate about creating a big and renowned company. Ms Parul started her own leading company, Nish Hair, in 2017. The company offers a wide range of human hair extensions and other hair accessories. Its products include wigs, hair toppers, extensions, colourful and highlighted strands and clip-in bangs. Nish Hair has recently launched a hair perfume.

The Vision

Ms Parul has always shared her views and vision of her company. She says, “Hair is an important part of one’s identity and confidence. For many women and girls, hair loss can deeply affect their self-confidence. Just as makeup covers dark circles, our products are like a ‘concealer’ for hair thinning and damage by providing instant coverage and boosting one’s confidence.”

Despite lacking a business background, Ms Parul decided to venture into entrepreneurship by launching Nish Hair in 2017. She learned how to make hair extensions, and she learned that it was an easy process. She has also mentioned that apart from her products being used in styling features, it has also been used by people who struggle with cancer and other disheartening diseases which cause hair loss and damage. This can lead to boosting their self-esteem and eliminating insecurity.

Where it All Started

Ms Parul shared in an interview that in 2016, she got the idea of starting her own business when she was watching a popular Hollywood TV show, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians”. She has always been passionate and drawn towards hair care, so she thought of trying it. She started the company from her living room with her mother helping her to stitch some products. 

She took them out to sell, and she shared her experience of being able to only sell three pieces of her products in three days. The young entrepreneur didn’t give up and spoke to many hairstylists to promote her products and boost sales. She also made door-to-door sales in the initial days. 

After some time, Ms Parul got the idea of social media marketing, started making video content, and started posting on her Instagram page. She responded to her followers personally to build trust with them. This technique worked out well for her, and her sales soon started increasing. 

Ms Parul shared and explained how she fetched her raw materials. She mentioned she has two vendors who provide her with bundles of human hair, and these vendors are responsible for the cleaning process. Then, the collected hair is sent to Ms Parul, who then has the role of colouring and basic preparation of the hair prior to the manufacturing process.

Nish Hair Company

Nish Hair has 45 stock-keeping units (SKUs) and four categories, which include volume, length, coverage, and style. The pricing of the products varies depending on the specific requirements and style. For example, a single-coloured strand may cost Rs. 600, while fuller coverage or wig options range from Rs. 8,200 to Rs. 32,000, depending on the length, coverage and style. 

The pricing has been well-planned, with the knowledge that the pricing sensitivity varies in India. Nish Hair has 35 all-women teams. The brand aims to expand its presence every day. The brand has a studio in Mumbai run by Ms Parul, and the company has collaborated with many salons in other cities. 

In 2022, Ms Parul appeared on Shark Tank season 2 and raised a capital of Rs. 1 Crore for 2% of her company’s equity. Amit Jain, CEO and Co-founder at CarDekho, became her investor. She mentions that after appearing in the reality show, the company saw a hike of 3X profits.

Conclusion

She cleared the misconception of many people that she has left her acting career, but she mentioned that she cannot leave either her acting career or her company. Through innovative products, effective promotional strategies and a strong online presence, Nish Hair has gained immense popularity and attention among young audiences.

The success story is a result of Parul Gulati’s undying dedication and vision, ensuring Nish Hair remains at the forefront of the industry.
